Choosing the right pediatrician for your new baby is a milestone in itself. Many of our expectant parents were patients themselves with us in their earlier days whereas others have heard about us from friends or have identified us based on their insurance. Our practice is small and personal. Your baby will always be seen by either Dr. Turke or Dr. Thomashow.
Most parents begin by visiting our office and meeting with one or both of
our doctors. These complementary visits allow you to observe our offices first
hand and to talk to our doctors about your concerns. Many expectant parents
have questions about immunizations, circumcision, breast feeding, bottle feeding,
and newborn care.
Drs. Turke and Thomashow see newborns at Saint
Joseph Mercy and the University of Michigan C.
S. Mott Children's Hospital. When
you arrive at the hospital you will be asked to identify us as your pediatricians.
After your baby is born, the
hospital will call us and we will visit you within 24 hours after birth.
We will see your baby daily until he/she is discharged.
Follow-up care begins in the office on the day after discharge. Occasionally infants are born at other hospitals in neighboring communities. Parents are simply asked call the office prior to discharge to arrange the initial office visit on the following day.
We warmly welcome you and your new baby to our practice.
